Echoes of the Name is a co-operative blog focusing on existential enquiry, contemplative practice, and intercultural dialogue.
Most of the contributors to Echoes of the Name have some form of interest in the Jōdo Shinshū school of Buddhism – be that reflected in practice, study, or both – but that tradition is by no means the only topic of discussion. In fact the diversity amongst us is a significant influence on our dialogue with one another, and with readers of the site.
The ideal that shapes our approach to enquiry and dialogue broadly corresponds to what the late Zen teacher Kosho Uchiyama described as “the attitude of discovering the life within the self that is connected to all things”, “aiming at manifesting the life of each and every encounter, and seeing all of these encounters as our own life.” However it should be made clear that posts on the blog represent the freely shared thoughts of individual authors and are not required to conform to any particular ethos or standpoint.

“a very stimulating site … I wish there were more Christian websites that demonstrated a similar capacity to reside deep within their own tradition while being open and engaging towards others.” ~ Simon Barrow, Faith In Society
